The Awakening

The road went on and I walked on.

The mist dispersed in the light of dawn.

I stopped for a sip, a sip of dew—

The finest manna, and so new!

I sang to the breeze,

It tickled and teased;

The sun climbed high and higher still,

Showering gold on life refill.

The world alighted and swept the sleep

From the eyes of those in the deep.

Slowly around me the world awoke

Awakening from dreams that are now smoke;

And the day is here yet my road goes on

But my heart will stay when I am gone.
