The Hazy Light

Did you see the comet last night?

It was nestled among stars

Beside the moon – bright;

Its tail was a serpent

What a sight!

As it made its way

In the hazy light.
Did you see the bats at night?

Kings they were

In their flight

Darker than clouds

Screeching in delight

Casting enormous shadows

In the hazy light.

Did you see the snowfall by night?

The flakes were soft

And glowing white

Lightly they fell

To my left and right

And tasted like fire

In the hazy light.

Did you see the moths at night?

Shimmering and glimmering

In their own right

Yet unaware as they drifted

That their pride and their might

Shall be consumed

By the hazy light.
