Beauty Lies in the Eye of the Beholder

What did I see?

When you enchanted me.

Your beauty grew bolder

And I, it’s beholder.

They warned me

Said I “couldn’t see”

Your appeal to them was invisible

But to me you were invincible.

Your beauty in my eye

Where it shall always lie.

And one day I awoke

When pain gave me a poke

You left and I lived alone

Savoured the ache in my bones.

“We told you so”

They watched you go

Then I finally saw

For what you were; raw.

Your beauty shrouded my eye

And fed me lie after lie.
